Summary of Department
Our department conducts treatment, consultation and guidance for conditions of the mouth, taking into consideration the general condition of patients admitted to or visiting our center. We attempt, through these treatments, to support the efficacy of cancer therapy and improve the quality of life among our patients.
Oral management in the treatment of cancer is said to be useful for preventing post-operative pneumonia and the deterioration of oral adverse events that frequently occur in chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Such efforts are said to support the completion of cancer treatment. In addition, comprehensive oral management that takes into consider the oral-eating function can help maintain the oral intake and encourage proper nutrition during the cancer treatment period, thus indirectly supporting cancer treatment.
In cooperation with regional dentists, we manage the oral care of patients with cancer from before surgery and admission through chemotherapy and radiation therapy. We also have established a system in which the oral management from hospitalization to discharge is continued.
