Department of Radiation Oncology

Summary of Department

The staff of our department consists of three board-certified radiation oncologists, eight radiation therapists (including two medical physicist, three radiotherapy quality managers and four board-certified radiotherapy technologists) and two nurses (including one radiation therapy nurse). Our mission is to provide the highest-quality and safest radiation therapy to patients with all types of cancers.

We treat almost 900 cases annually, from radical to palliative radiotherapy, and the number of referred patients has continued to increase. Three linear accelerators (ONCOR, Truebeam, Truebeam STx) are installed, capable of delivering extremely precise radiation therapy, such as image-guided radiotherapy, stereotactic brain/body radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy. These innovative treatment techniques allow us to provide highly effective and minimally invasive radiation therapy. We also have one remote after loading system including a computed tomography simulator, which is used for brachytherapy. In addition, we participate in many clinical trials so that we can provide our patients with cutting-edge treatments.

Main scope of the treatment

Main target diseases:

Common diseases: head and neck cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, cervical cancer, esophageal cancer, rectal cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, pancreatic cancer, urinary tract cancer, bone and soft tissue tumor, malignant lymphoma.
**We also treat other rare cancers and metastases at almost all sites.

Technique:

External beam radiation therapy
a. Three-dimensional radiotherapy, including total-body irradiation
b. Stereotactic brain radiotherapy: brain metastasis
c. Stereotactic body radiotherapy: lung cancer, lung metastasis, HCC, liver metastasis
d. Intensity-modulated radiotherapy: prostate cancer, head & neck cancer, cervical cancer (post-operation), others

High-dose-rate remote brachytherapy
a. Intra cavitary irradiation for cervical cancer
b. Interstitial brachytherapy for cervical cancer
