Summary of Department
We provide surgical treatment for liver, biliary tract and pancreatic cancers. In our department, we perform >50 highly advanced surgeries for the hepatobiliary and pancreatic (HBP) field, >60 hepatectomies and >40 pancreatectomy annually. Our institution is certified as a "high-volume center" in this area by the Japanese Society of HBP Surgery. We also provide minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopic surgery) for liver cancer and pancreatic tumors. HBP surgery is said to be a particularly difficult branch of gastrointestinal surgery. We are committed to provide high-level surgical treatment to patients with HBP cancer, striking a balance between curability and procedure safety. We manage intractable HBP cancer by conducting “team medicine”, bringing together the strengths of experts in surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, endoscopy, imaging diagnostic modalities and interventional radiology.
